Environment Pillar
Sustainable Building and Responsible Resource Management
The Resort Barrière Lille designs and adapts its infrastructure to reduce its environmental footprint while ensuring the comfort of its clients. This approach is materialized by the integration of less impactful materials, energy optimization, and continuous improvement of resource management.
Numerous initiatives are implemented to reduce water and energy consumption, such as centralized lighting management or the installation of resource-efficient equipment. Renewable energies now represent 50% of the Barrière group's energy contract.
During extended stays, linen is only renewed upon request, thus combining comfort and resource preservation.
The Resort Barrière Lille also follows a logic of harmonious integration into its environment, favoring landscape integration, preservation of existing ecosystems, and more sustainable construction practices.
Circular Economy Valorization
The principles of the circular economy apply to all professions and are accompanied by optimized waste management through a single provider, Take a Waste, specialized in comprehensive waste management, allowing anticipation of regulatory developments and ensuring efficient sorting.
In our spaces, glass and aluminum replace single-use plastic, and used soaps find a second life through solidarity associations, while contributing to humanitarian causes.
The Resort Barrière Lille also acts on its paper consumption by gradually digitizing its communication media, as well as offering its clients a digital press service, PressReader.
Transition towards a Low Carbon Trajectory
The Carbon Footprint of the Resort Barrière de Lille has been established, allowing the definition of a concrete action plan and the structuring of an ambitious low carbon trajectory, adapted to our activities. Our objective by 2030 is to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by 25% compared to 2023.
Biodiversity Preservation
Today, although the Resort Barrière Lille does not have green spaces as it is located in an urban area, we are actively engaged in initiatives in favor of the environment and biodiversity. In this regard, we organize a biannual cleaning of the Parc des Dondaines, facing the establishment, thus contributing to the preservation of a natural space accessible to all.
In parallel, we carefully maintain our “Barrière” beehives sponsored by a local beekeeper, which not only support local biodiversity by promoting the work of bees but also produce an exclusive honey. This honey, a true reflection of our commitment, is offered to our clients, made available on our breakfast buffet, and used by our Chefs in the kitchen and pastry. It embodies our values of authenticity and respect for nature.
