La région
The narrow streets of Vieux Lille, to the Grand Place and Palais des Beaux-Arts, pavement cafés, Wazemmes market, the famous braderie flea market, shops and art galleries: the Flanders capital has something for everyone.
Walk through the Citadel of Lille, an architectural masterpiece built by Vauban in the seventeenth century. Get lost in the cobbled streets of Vieux Lille and admire its colourful façades. See the dried-up canals around the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de la Treille and the nine muses surrounding Apollo on the Opera house. Walk or cycle in the heart of the Bois de Boulogne. Right in the city centre, this large 170-acre park houses a magnificent zoo, a place to learn, educate and raise awareness for the protection of biodiversity and endangered species. High-end boutiques, trendy bars and restaurants abound. Lille is an exciting place to be.
