Opened in 1929 on the heights of Mont-Canisy a few minutes from the town centre, the Golf Barrière Deauville is renowned as one of the most beautiful golf courses in France. Architects Tom Simpson and Henry Cotton designed the courses, thus giving every player a diversity of experiences in an environment of 70 hectares. Magnificently maintained and offering numerous views over the sea and countryside, the Golf Barrière Deauville is a genuine championship golf course that has in the past played host to the Open de France, the Ebel Match Play and the Air France Madame, highly popular events among numerous champions such as Gary Player, Tony Jacklin and Peter Fowler. Major international stars in Deauville for the American film festival such as Michael Douglas, George Clooney and Samuel L. Jackson regularly come to enjoy this unspoilt location. An Academy offers the possibility of learning or perfecting your game before or after a break in the completely renovated Club House.

It might look simple, but the sea wind can complicate the 18-hole course.

Lucien Barrière

An attractive course that is seemingly easy. But the lush grass of the roughs, the speed of the greens and the many bunkers can create a number of difficulties.
